About the El dorado Wineries

FITZPATRICK

Since 1980, Fitzpatrick's world-class wines have been vinted in small lots to celebrate the magic of the vineyards from where they come. Vineyards planted in the upland soils of the Sierra Foothills of California, at elevations whose microclimates are unique to the rest of the world. Many classic winegrape varieties have been masterfully matched with each vineyard's soil characteristics, topography and resultant microclimate to produce handsome wines from world renowned varieties like Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah/Shiraz, Grenache, Sangiovese, proprietary blends and others.

JODAR

Overlooking the sheer American River Canyon below, the steeply terraced Jodar vineyard is located near the edge of El Dorado National Forest at 2,400 feet elevation. The Jodar family literally blasted the vineyard from the granite hillside in 1985 to launch a journey, which is still in progress. In the spring of 1986 the task of carving terraces in the steep and rocky terrain was completed, and a small army of friends and relatives was recruited to plant the first 4,200 vines.

The Latcham family started Latcham Vineyards as a vineyard in 1981.  Located in California's Sierra Foothills, Latcham Vineyards lies on the north slope of a small, beautiful valley in the heart of the El Dorado Gold Country near the historic town of Fair Play, California.  They chose this romantic and colorful site for its beauty, the fine quality of the soil, and excellent growing conditions.  The wisdom of this choice has been proven repeatedly by the deeply flavorful grapes produced on this 28-acre vineyard. Latcham Vineyards has become well known for rich, flavorful wines such as Zinfandel, Barbera, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Port.  These wines have won hundreds of medals in numerous wine competitions, including Double Golds, Best of Region and Best of State medals as well as much critical acclaim.  The Latcham family credits the success of their wines to the unique growing conditions, or mountain terroir, of the Fair Play viticultural area of southern El Dorado County.  The warm days and cool nights produce grapes with an intensity of flavor not found in other growing areas.

Madroña

Madroña Vineyards takes its name from the majestic old madrone tree which still stands in the middle of the vineyard. The warm days and cool nights of the historic El Dorado grape-growing region have proven to produce fruit with excellent balance and intense varietal character. At an elevation of 3,000 feet (one of the highest vineyards in California), it can truly claim the distinction of offering mountain-grown wines.

 Findleton

Hello, I am Tom Findleton, the proud father of five great children, husband to my wife Pam Findleton (the artist), and owner of Findleton Estate Winery (FEW).. We specialize in crafting small lots of high quality El Dorado County AVA wine at a competitively valued price. Our estate grown Pinot noir is an ideal crop for this high elevation climate and volcanic rocky soil. Our five acres of vigorously maintained and managed fruit is grown on an ideal site with a cool microclimate fitting for Pinot noir. The miners called this area "pneumonia gultch" for a reason!  It is the perfect climate for Pinot Noir! We are proud of our small family operated vineyard. For our other wines, we purchase only El Dorado county grown grapes from a very select group of local vineyards and we control every aspect of the wine making process
